Below is a list of some of the musical services Fiona Thorn can provide.
1. Pastel Vespa and Her Muchachas
Pastel Vespa is Fiona’s own fabulous creation. Pastel is half Brazilian/half Italian and is a child of the 60’s, famous for her unique Latin/Pop versions of rock hits along with great versions of 60’s dance hits.With her hot 7-piece backing band ‘the Muchachas’, she has played shows around the country (The Famous Spiegeltent, Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Adelaide Cabaret Festival, Sydney Opera House) and has released 2 CD’s worldwide on the wonderfully exotic label “Siesta” from Madrid, Spain.
Pastel has a repertoire of over 100 songs that includes her witty original arrangements, and can make any crowd dance all night with her cha chas, go-gos, and 60’s/70’s pop hits.
Pastel has played the Edinburgh Festival and toured the UK and Australia with Bob Downe, as well as many corporate functions and parties.
Internationally, Pastel’s unique renditions of pop classics are heard on catwalks in Japan, discos in Greece, Belgium and Germany, and radio stations from Madrid to Oslo.
2. Original and Special Material
Fiona and John Thorn have written songs and shows together for 12 years, including 4 full Musicals, and numerous corporate events in Australia and overseas.
These include their acclaimed musical “All Het Up”, “Max Gillies – Live at Club Republic”, Hagemeyer Conferences in Dubai and Bangkok, and a Dulux National Product Launch (2004) that included producing a CD “Smooth” of their original songs.
They can write and perform special material to any brief and deadline.
3. Cabaret and Floorshow
Fiona and John have created and performed numerous cabaret shows and floorshow entertainment. These include:
- French songs:
Wide selection of French songs including Trenet, Piaf, Boris Vian, Brel, Barbara, Gainsbourg, and their own original songs in French. (Fiona is fluent in French and has studied at the Sorbonne, Paris)
- Bond Show:
Fiona and the Bond Girl dancers present a sizzling floorshow, singing your favourite hits from the James Bond movies including - Goldfinger, Diamonds Are Forever, and Live and Let Die.
- Bacharach:
Full show singing the hits from Burt Bacharach and Hal David
(Performed at the Melbourne Concert Hall, 2003)
- Original:
A show featuring selections of their own acclaimed jazz, cabaret and show tunes.
4. Dance Band
Fiona and the Muchachas have a wide and varied range of dance tunes honed over hundreds of engagements. Styles such as Latin, Swing, Cha-Cha, Go-Go and Disco are all covered by a superb sounding outfit backing up one of the finest voices in Australia.
All age groups can appreciate and dance to the band, and with Fiona’s abilities to sing in 8 languages many different ethnic groups can be catered for.
5. Vocalist and Pianist / Jazz Band / Big Band
Fiona has held residencies at many leading 5 star hotels and nightclubs in Melbourne (Hilton, Hyatt, Como, Regent, Sofitel, Novotel, Night Cat, Tony Starr’s Kitten Club etc).
She has a repertoire of over 400 standards in English and 7 other languages (French, Italian, Spanish, German, Portuguese, Japanese, Russian) and is the perfect addition to any function that requires class, sophistication, elegance and taste.
